Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Pharmacology (Tenure-Track)

The University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences (www.usc.edu/schools/pharmacy/departments), invites applications for a full-time, 12 months per year, tenure-track or tenured position at the Assistant/Associate or Full Professor level emphasizing research expertise in pharmacology. Of particular interest are candidates with the capability of working in a multidisciplinary fashion with chemists and biologists within the university, and with others in academia and industry. Candidates should have demonstrated postdoctoral experience in pharmacology. The successful candidate is expected to develop or already display an internationally recognized and externally funded research program. Special attention will be given to candidates with research programs complementing and expanding existing departmental strengths in drug design and discovery, safety pharmacology and drug toxicology, drug delivery and biopharmaceutics, bioinformatics, leading to therapeutic translational opportunities in medicinal product development. Teaching responsibilities include mentoring postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in the pharmaceutical science and teaching basic and advanced coursework in pharmacology at the professional, graduate and postdoctoral levels. Participation in teaching with our growing undergraduate course offerings in the pharmaceutical sciences is also available.

Routine faculty administration and participation duties, such as attendance at departmental and full faculty meetings and committee service, as well as annual review submissions, peer review, and peer-to-peer teaching evaluation activities are expected.

Educational/Position Requirements, Qualifications and Experience: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Pharmacology or related field in the pharmaceutical sciences, with appropriate and productive post-doctoral training, experience, and expertise. Assistant professor applicants must demonstrate a formulated approach to develop an extramurally funded research program and an existing quality publication record. Senior-level faculty applicants are expected to have a record of successful and consistent extramural funding and a significant nationally / internationally acknowledged track record of publications and presentations in the relevant field. Prior examples of teaching experience and innovation, excellence and content and performance evaluations are requested. Qualified candidates will preferably have demonstrated experience or leadership in diversity and inclusion within their prior academic and professional work environments that they can bring to the education setting.

Compensation and Benefits: The University of Southern California offers a competitive salary within an academic environment based on the candidate’s experience and accomplishments. The rank of Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor is provided commensurate with the research and scholarly accomplishments, assessed teaching capabilities, and expertise in the field of study. The tenure decision date will be determined prior to beginning the tenure-track period upon employment.
