Job Description:

Bennett Aerospace
, Inc. has an opening for a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist VII to support the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Environmental Laboratory (EL) in execution of its mission in Vicksburg, MS. The successful candidate will shall provide technical support and research to conduct genomic, genetic and molecular biology studies related to specific environmental problems. Because much, though not all, of studies executed by this research group incorporate molecular genomic techniques and concepts, the ability to work with DNA and RNA from diverse sources including multiple animal and plant species; conduct DNA/RNA sequence data processing; and execute standard molecular biology techniques will be essential skills for contractors involved in laboratory operations. Given the requirement of advanced laboratory techniques and the need for execution of complex research and development tasks, we have the need for the following experience: (1) a MS degree with experience in the molecular biological processes involved in RNA fixation, RNA quantity / quality assessment, DNA fixation DNA quality / quantity assessment, genomics, gene expression assays, cDNA library preparation, next-generation nucleic acid sequencing, transfection procedures, molecular cloning, gene-target identification, enzyme quantification assays, various cell-free and in vitro assays, PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, and additional genomics-related techniques. The candidate will provide a monthly status report in support. A quarterly report will include detailed status of subtask accomplishments including problems encountered. A final report will be due at the end of the project to include research notes, results of experiments, methodology, data results, and data analysis. A scientific journal is due at the end of the experiment. The candidate will ensure all data provided is defensible for peer review and indicate a successful experiment.
