Laboratory Planner

Laboratory Planner - (164883) Description

About Us

At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental, and construction services. While we are most well-known for adding beauty and structure to communities through high-performance buildings and smart infrastructure, we provide much more than that. We create an unshakable foundation for progress because our multidisciplinary teams also include scientists, economists, builders, analysts, and artists. That's why we believe diversity is our greatest strength. HDR is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

We believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world. That ideas inspire positive change. That coloring outside the lines can illuminate fresh perspectives. And that small details yield important realizations. Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.

Seeking Problem-Solvers with a Passion for Science

Our clients live on the leading edge of Education, Science, and Advanced Technology. We, the lab planners at HDR, consider ourselves lucky to work with them every day. We come from a diverse background of architects, educators, and scientists. There is no one formula for how we got here, but we all have a deep interest in what our clients do and a passion for problem-solving.

Lab planners are the conduits between the end-users and the rest of the design team. We translate design vision to scientists and science to designers. We’re also in a position to have our ideas permeate every aspect of our projects. Collaboration energizes us.

We are proud to be associated with some of the most advanced institutions and facilities in the world, including 33 of the top 50 Universities ranked by grant dollars received. Our work spans life science, physical science, nanoscience, engineering, and education facilities in all of the above. If a client has a one-of-a-kind facility, HDR is often the first to be called upon. Our clients want their designers to be able to think strategically about their unique problems, not just apply past experience. Staying ahead takes work. We invest significant time together reimagining the future of research and education, and how that will impact our clients, their projects, and our design thinking.

If you are looking to join an inspired team that focuses on what is next, not just what has been done before, let us know. We are looking for you, too!

The Laboratory Planner will support the work of Principal Laboratory Planners and Senior Laboratory Planners with the intent of growing into those roles through deep, ideally daily, mentorship. Through training, education, and preparation, the planner will eventually lead his/her own user groups through the planning process and into a complete design.
