The Department of Physics at Baylor University invites applications for a tenure-track position in condensed matter physics at the assistant professor level. The position is expected to contribute to the growing research enterprise at Baylor University in the strategic area of Materials Science as identified in the University's vision document, Illuminate (baylor.edu/illuminate). This is a multiyear commitment to transform materials research at Baylor through new experimental facilities, upgrades to existing facilities, and with a sustained investment in our faculty. The successful candidate can anticipate strong support for their integrated research and teaching program with state-of-the-art facilities, lab space, and startup funds. They can also anticipate close collaboration and support from Baylor’s world-class faculty and close integration with our growing materials research community.


The Department of Physics (https://www.baylor.edu/physics/) offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees. The Department has a strong research focus, a demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a strong commitment to service to Baylor and our community in Central Texas. Current departmental strengths in Condensed Matter Physics include quantum and nano optics, surface physics, nonlinear dynamics, and plasma physics. The new tenure-track faculty member will establish an integrated research and education program to address grand challenge problems in experimental condensed matter physics within the materials research community at Baylor.


Qualifications

Outstanding candidates with an earned doctorate in physics and related fields are invited to apply. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, internationally recognized research program, engaging in sponsored research as well as to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in our physics program, mentor/teach doctoral students, and serve the university and broader physics community.
