Our prime mission is to provide an equal opportunity for all people who work in the realm of nanotechnology. Owing to the interdisciplinary nature and popularity of nanotechnology, people from quite different disciplines and various countries are actively involved. The centerpiece of our effort to provide an equal opportunity for all people is the fellowship program.
In the classic model of fellow membership, new candidates should be nominated or sponsored by current fellow members. This excludes people who are outside certain networks. On the other hand, some contributions are specific to nanotechnology as an emerging field, which are not usually recognized in other fields.
To address this issue, we follow a transparent and standard peer-review process to elect fellow members.
As it has been widely discussed for the scientific journals, the peer-review system is not perfect, but this is the best available system for an independent review.
