Technical Trainer III

Location/Division


The Materials and Structural Analysis Division's Electron Microscopy (MSD EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries ultimately change the world. The MSD EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.


How will you make an impact?


To be the performance support team that delivers high quality, easily accessible and innovative technical training, to our internal customers working in service, enabling them to perform their job safely, efficiently and reliably.


It is important to our customers that the sophisticated systems Thermo Fisher builds, stay operational for as long as possible. This is only possible with excellent support, keeping the systems in the best possible condition and getting the system back online quickly if it breaks down. The Technical Training department is the link between the company and the hundreds of colleagues working worldwide performing this excellent support. Our department develops and delivers technical training through 100’s of training events on a yearly basis. Most trainees are from the Sales and Service sector. Our distributed team is located in Brno, Eindhoven, Hillsboro and Shanghai.


What will you do?


As a Technical Trainer III you will deliver technical training to a variety of customer service and other technical employees, to ensure that they have the required skills and knowledge to optimize the use and performance of Thermo Fisher’s electron-microscopy products.


As a Technical Trainer III you are a member of a global department. You will be responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of high-quality learning material. Technical Trainer’s must also develop close relationships with colleagues from Technical Support, Customer Service, R&D, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management and Thermo Fisher’s NanoPorts.


Within our department you work on one or more projects supporting the learning needs of our internal customers. You are a great teammate, communicate proactively, have a healthy business sense and are on top of new opportunities which add value to our core business. Being in touch with several departments you translate the latest technical developments into complete training packages. Sometimes you will deliver training at remote sites. We are continually exploring new technologies and methods to improve our own effectivity and the efficiency of our products.


How will you get here?


Minimum required education: Associates degree, or military training equivalent. Electronics, physics, or a similar technical field would be an asset. A Bachelor's degree is desirable.


Hands on experience working on Electron Microscopes is very desirable.


State of the art training methods and experience with curriculum development are an asset.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities


Combination of both theoretical and practical skills.


Skilled in using software.


Confirmed affinity with or expertise in education.


Analytic, abstract thinking, good communication skills, initiative, independent, sharing knowledge, stress tolerance and collaboration.


Ability to capture and transfer knowledge in an effective manner is a must.


Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Multicultural awareness.


Self-starter who is also highly productive when working independently.


Incidental Traveling (less than 25% of working time).


Proficient in English (verbal and in writing). Proficiency in other languages is desirable.
