Reports to: Facilities Supervisor


Minimum Job Requirements:


Must have a minimum of a high school diploma/GED equivalency and pass maintenance Tech II Ramsey test. Must have a minimum of 10 years industrial plant maintenance experience in anhydrous ammonia refrigeration in systems over 10,000 pounds and have Level 2 Ammonia Refrigeration RETA certification. Must have PSM, PHA, and RMP program experience. Must also have plant maintenance experience in boilers, air compressors (up to 600 PSI), wastewater treatment, water purification (prefer nano or RO filtration), electrical systems (up to 460 V), piping systems, and hydraulics. Must have leadership skills and have worked in a leadership role for a minimum of 5 years. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand instructions given in English. Must have basic computer skills. Ability to work eight-hour shifts, 12-hour shifts, day or night shift, or other work schedules as determined by business need, including overtime as required. Required to work holidays and plant shutdowns. Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics. Ability to recognize defective parts and to distinguish machine sounds, to detect potential mechanical issues. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, to work on elevated surfaces and work in extreme temperatures and noise levels. Ability to pass an annual physical and respiratory test. Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and troubleshooting PLC controlled systems.


Summary:


Closely supports the site PSM program, assist in maintaining PHA and RMP documents, supports training and leadership to all refrigeration mechanics with regards to the ammonia systems, write, revise, and execute PM’s and log sheets, maintain equipment list, parts inventory, and maintenance records in SAP-PM. Provide backup assistance to facility techs who maintain plant facility equipment including boilers, refrigeration (anhydrous ammonia), wastewater treatment, water filtration, air compressors, electrical systems, piping systems, and hydraulics. Direct and track contractor needs, and activities as directed by management. Perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of Quality, Service, and Cost objectives. Comply with all standard operating procedures and requirements under TCCC Quality System, and with all regulations (local to federal).


Essential Duties:


Closely supports the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program, assist in maintaining PHA and RMP documents Provide training and leadership to all refrigeration mechanics with regards to the ammonia systems Must obtain a RETA CIRO Certification with-in 6 months from hire date Write, revise, and execute PM’s and log sheets Maintain equipment list, parts inventory, and maintenance records in SAP-PM for the ammonia systems. Implement and maintain 5S standards in ammonia engine rooms Understand the theory and operation of the plant fire protection system, ammonia refrigeration system, air compressor system, water and wastewater treatment system, and the steam boiler system (including sterilization operation). Gain advanced knowledge of anhydrous ammonia as a refrigerant, its properties and safety thresholds. Requires confined space certification training. (Will be provided) Understand environmental requirements and power distribution system and operate systems accordingly. Identify and assist in the implementation of safety or other projects as required. Be an active member of the Hazardous Chemical Response Team. Identify and purge all refrigeration systems. Identify, troubleshoot, and make recommendations of plant utilities equipment. Properly manage parts use and inventory. Manage and perform predictive and preventive maintenance to refrigeration, air, water, wastewater, and boiler systems (including rebuilds, valve repair, plumbing, and solenoid replacement). Use computer and associated software to operate plant utility equipment. Document time on work orders and in computerized maintenance management system SAP-PM Perform water treatment tests to maintain and operate condenser cooling towers and associated equipment. Properly startup, maintain, and shutdown refrigeration equipment, both in normal operation and in emergency situations. Understand vibration analysis and be able to perform vibration monitoring and schedule corrective action. Use infrared device to troubleshoot and maintain condensate traps and associated equipment. Implement and track energy savings plans and performance. Properly implement power outage management practices. Properly execute periodic equipment inspections to detect, respond, communicate, and document issues of concern. Possess basic electrical knowledge. Ability to size conduits, wiring, thermal overloads, and starters. Check voltage, amperage, and continuity with a multi-meter. Read and understand blueprints. Develop and execute maintenance check sheets. Keep accurate records as required to protect products, ingredients, processes, and information. Ensure all security measures are followed. Audit and monitor programs and processes as needed to maintain reliability. Read, understand, and comply with SDS’s. Maintain plant security and communication systems.

Working Conditions:


Work is performed in a manufacturing plant. Work involves exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, wetness, heights, dust, moving equipment, vibrations, and vapors.


Equipment Used:


Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection. Full Face-piece Air Purifying Respirator (APR) with cartridge and/or canister. Computer and associated software. SDS sheets, hand tools, measuring instruments, power tools, fire extinguisher and lockout devices. Confined space equipment. Company truck.


Non-essential Functions:


Travel to other locations. Develop and train peers and new facilities maintenance associates in current and new technologies. Perform other duties as assigned. Explain and demonstrate job tasks to visitors. Operate forklift and man lifts.
