Senior Research Engineer

GDIT s military health team is HIRING a Senior Research Engineer to support the 59th Medical Wing (MDW), located at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.


The 59th Medical Wing Science and Technology (ST) office advises and conducts clinical and translational research on matters pertaining to the medical aspects of the Air Expeditionary Force and the health of Air Force (AF) personnel and beneficiaries. In order to support the required research, ST offices conduct translational research in the areas of emergency medical care, combat casualty care, force health protection, restorative medicine, clinical and rehabilitative medicine and specialty centers.

What You’ll Be Doing:


Develop and conduct protocol-driven scientific research addressing various aspects of military medicine, including, but not limited to; drug delivery (micro/nano encapsulation), advanced biomaterials and micro-nan-fabrication, bio modeling, cellular and tissue engineering, stem cell engineering, bio photonics, micro/Nano fluidics, bio-MEMS, bio printing/coating processes, and interfacial engineering and bio transport. Prepare experimental subjects, set-up experimental equipment, and aid in training and development of experimental subjects for experimental procedures with to test engineered prototypes. Evaluate data sets (provided by the government or collected by the contractor), develop presentation materials, and present findings at technical and professional meetings. Assist with experimental design and integration of models and test devices with other scientists.

What You’ll Need (required):


Masters’ degree in science, engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred. 5+ years relevant work experience. Experience with programming languages and software tools including: C/C++, LabView, MATLAB, Python, and Simulink. Must successfully complete CITI training and remain current. Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team. Strong analytical skills and ability to collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
