Zimmerman Associates, Inc. is currently seeking to hire Cataloging Librarian for an opportunity located in Washington, DC. The qualified candidate will be responsible for ensuring all obligations of the project are met within the established deadlines. Must have three years of cataloging experience. Will manage all aspects of the project to assure quality control; serve as a liaison and interact effectively with the government as well as the staff members.


Job Responsibilities:


Three years’ experience working in a library technical services, cataloging/ metadata creating and perform original and copy cataloging. Identify metadata, entry metadata and perform quality control. Perform copy cataloging and create new records in OCLC connection following RDA, MARC21, AACR2 guidelines Create and or edit holding records Cataloging of maps Update and edit existing bibliographic records in an ILS. Knowledge of Library of Congress Subject headings Experience with MARC 21, ILS and Dewey and Library of Congress and or SUDOc

Position requirements:


Master’s degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution Minimum three (3) years of work experience in library technical services operations, specifically cataloging/metadata unit, working on original and copy cataloging/metadata. Experience with the MARC 21 standard and RDA Strong knowledge and work experience using classification schema(s) Dewey, Library of Congress, and/or SuDocs) Strong skill/experience using an ILS Experience with cataloging maps Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel, and other business applications.
