Department Summary The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees. As one of the five departments in the College of Engineering, its faculty conduct research in all areas of mechanical engineering. In particular, mechanics and materials researches of mechanical engineering synergize with those of materials science and engineering. Multiple faculty members work in the area of computational mechanics/materials, from nano to macroscales. The computational endeavor is in close collaboration with experimental studies of mechanics/materials across the departments.
Position Summary
The post-doc will work with the supervisor in nanomechanics/nanomechanics research using molecular dynamics simulations, and possibly quantum mechanics calculations. In addition, they are expected to draft manuscripts and help prepare research proposals.
Minimum Qualifications A PhD degree in engineering or physical sciences, with publication record using molecular dynamics simulations and academic background of crystalline solids.
