Position Description::
Valiant Harbor International is seeking an enterprising Junior Program Engineer / Scientist :to provide technical support to the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This position requires a technical background (e.g., Biology, Bio-medicine, Biochemistry, Nano-biology, Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Human-Systems Integration/Human Factors, :Neuroscience, Physiology, Exercise Science, Psychology, or Sociology) by a critical thinker who can extract meaning from complex data relationships, identify trends, opportunities, and solutions related to customer policy and program areas. Applicants must have a passion for their work, be innovative, and possess strong verbal and written communication and analytic skills. The ideal applicant will have demonstrated proficiency and understanding of processes associated with S&T programs.
Location:: Arlington, VA – Office of Naval Research (ONR)
Position Availability & Type:: Full-Time position
Responsibilities & Duties:
Facilitate and support ONR program officer activity including responses to data calls, development of presentations, and follow-through reporting requirements to include tracking program funding and transition of research to prototyping, field-testing, and acquisition.
Schedule and attend program technical and financial reviews, and key demonstrations or tests.
Support the development of technology roadmaps.
Assist program officers track and assess cost, schedule, and performance metrics of S&T portfolio investments.
Participate in S&T Working Groups; assist with S&T related matters, including the implementation of Technology Transition Agreements and development of Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) topics.
Support the S&T processes, including spend plans, phasing, tracking, and topic coordination. Assist in the coordination of S&T activities across program offices and Naval warfare centers.
Support data calls, reviews, evaluations related to S&T topic reviews.
Track relevant Fleet experimentation venues and coordinate efforts for ONR program officers.
Participate and present at high school/university outreach programs, which may include career fairs, science fairs, and symposiums.
Citizenship and Security Clearance Requirements::
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must possess an Active Secret Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Required::
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in a technical area (e.g., Biology, Bio-medicine, Biochemistry, Nano-biology, Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Human-Systems Integration/Human Factors, :Neuroscience, Physiology, Exercise Science, Psychology, or Sociology).
Experience attending Scientific & Engineering (S&E) meetings, forums.
Experience participating in S&E discussions; analyzing and evaluating the S&E content of research proposals and assisting in drafting written responses to S&E-related inquiries.
Experience in assisting with coordinating research collaborations with academia, federal government agencies, industry, or international organizations.
Desired: experience with the DoD/DoN acquisition processes and S&T support.
Desired: experience with Navy and/or Marine Corps related operational activities.
