At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineering Lead Architect to join our team, whose mission is to work with a broad range of multidisciplinary research to advance the state-of-the-art of AR/VR experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience architecting mechanical systems while considering a broad range of hardware requirements including materials, manufacturability, form factor, ergonomics, sensor/camera/display integration, and reliability performance. The candidate should be able to explore novel ideas and assess concept feasibility through the use of analytical modeling and fast iterative prototyping while considering transition to high volume production. The candidate will work with a team of researchers and engineers who are focused on haptics, sensor fusion, novel materials, and AR/VR-specific human-computer-interface paradigms. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
