We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our La Jolla, CA, team and be a part of Lead Evaluation and Cellular Pharmacology department. The desired candidate should have scientific knowledge of immunology or neuroscience, and disorders in either of these disciplines, demonstrated by a strong publication record. He /She should also possess hands-on experiences in standard cell biology techniques. The primary responsibilities include validation of various in vitro cellular assays and supervising the execution of such assays in a medium- to high-throughput fashion in support of drug discovery programs. In addition, he / she will be responsible for data analysis, troubleshooting and data report generation, and will ensure data quality and integrity. He/ She is also expected to communicate effectively with our global team at Spring House, PA and Beerse, Belgium for shared responsibilities and resources. Through these activities this position will work closely with Compound Logistics, Core Automation and disease area program leads, and contribute to portfolio advancement in our La Jolla site. People management skills, including mentoring and managing research associate, is high desirable.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Molecular/Cell Biology, Immunology or related field is required with a minimum of 3 years of experience with biopharmaceutical companies in drug discovery setting Postdoctoral training in the field of immunology or neurosciences is preferred Working knowledge of immunological and/or neurological disorders is required In-depth knowledge of principals of screening assays, validation methods and QC standards is required Hands-on experience with functional readouts is required. (examples may include multi-color flow cytometry, cytokine quantification and downstream signaling pathway modulation) Solid data analytical and problem-solving skills and proficiency with standard scientific software used for data analysis is required Knowledge in receptor biology, especially in GPCR or ion channels is preferred Hands-on experience with primary immune cell isolation, expansion, co-culture and functional assays is preferred Knowledge of high throughput screening and automation is preferred Knowledge of quantitative protein assays, such as MSD, Protein Simple, nano_BRET, nano-Bit, HTRF or Alpha Screen is preferred Scientific mentoring and supervision experience of non-PhD level scientists is preferred Excellent written communication skills, including meticulous preparation of experimental records and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and a track record of peer-reviewed publications is required Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to present to multidisciplinary teams and external conferences/collaborators is required Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-advancing environment are required This position is located in San Diego, CA (La Jolla area) and may require approximately 10% travel.
