Electrical Engineer/Electronics, Sr. Technical Professional

Title:

Electrical Engineer/Electronics, Sr. Technical Professional

***RELOCATION ASSITANCE AVAILABLE ***

KBR’s Development and Integration (DI) Program, an AS9100 Certified organization, has a new opening for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our innovative team for an exciting opportunity supporting a diverse portfolio of manned and unmanned military avionics systems. The selected candidate will be a key player of our technical team working in our DI laboratory located in Lexington Park, MD. Our team executes new design, reverse engineering, analysis, prototyping, fabrication, assembly, repair and testing to support a wide variety of engineering projects across KBR’s Systems Engineering Group. Specifically, we are looking for qualified candidates to support new Electronics design projects and advance our Additive Manufacturing Electronics (AME) program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for circuit design, reverse engineering, circuit schematic and analysis, embedded programming, novel PCB and AME electronics layout and fabrication, as well as circuit board assembly. Signal domains will include aircraft DC and AC power, analog, digital, video, RF and optical. All aspects of power and signal functional testing, as well as structural, material, environmental and EMI testing, fault analysis and repair of electronics parts and avionics circuit boards and systems are integral to these design projects. Responsibility will include related electrical and electronics system wire harness, enclosures, racks and custom test fixtures and test benches. The selected candidate will perform project tasking supporting different aircraft and ground support systems programs for US Navy, US Air Force, US Army, NASA and allied customers.

Tasks will include using 3D CAD circuit design and modern analysis tools to develop virtual concept designs and simulations, to prototype these designs of PCBs, embedded components, circuits, sensors, antennas, systems, using KBR’s state-of-the-art Nano Dimension’s DragonFly LDM 2.0 3D electronics printer and other research methods applied to AME, as well as in-house subtractive manufacturing using Lasers, CNC, Mills, etc., for PCB etching, and stencil and enclosure fabrication. Sophisticated ESD workstations with modern soldering stations, specialized tools and video microscopes will be used with different reflow ovens for in-house prototype and production circuit assembly. Further use of KBR’s other in-house multi-material 3D printers (polymer plastic, powder metal, carbon fiber, ceramic) will be to fabricate and assemble function systems. Extensive circuit and avionics stimulation and testing for response measurements will be required using KBR’s laboratory and customer equipment. The position also requires the ability to support documenting the design details and theory of operations, developing research methods and test procedures for data collection and analysis, to execute or witness the required testing, and to draft reports on the designs performance to applicable standards related to air worthiness qualification when needed.

This position will require up to 10% travel.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or relevant discipline, from an ABET accredited University 6-10 years of work technical experience, with minimum of 4 years of direct experience performing relevant electrical and electronics engineering design tasks, including; Experience using electronics and RF circuit simulation and analysis software such as SPICE, PSPICE, ANSYS, etc. Proficient use of circuit design EDA software, such as Altium, SolidWorks PCB, or ORCAD software, to design complex circuit schematics, simulations, PCB artwork, electronics, and CAD for electrical wire harness assemblies such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Proficient with hand tools, electronics soldering and assembly wire harness crimpers and assembly, and electronic and RF signal measuring techniques, used during assembly and testing of aircraft avionics systems Experience with embedded programming of microprocessor and microcontrollers using modern programming languages and devices Physically able to work on aircraft and lift test equipment up to 50 pounds as an individual.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience with aircraft avionic subsystem and system design, and maintenance practices General experience or certification to IPC J-STD-001 electronics soldering and assembly standard, IPC / WHMA -A- 620 wire harness assembly standard, and familiarity with SAE-AS50881 or NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 aircraft wiring standards Proficient with DOD technical manuals, standards and MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Packages for electrical and electronics systems Experience with compiling and preparing analytical reports, technical plans and test reports using MS Office tools Experience reviewing and critiquing electronic and systems architectures, drawings, data, specifications, publications and reports

Applicant must be a US Citizen with an Active DoD Secret Security clearance, and eligibility for a DoD Top Secret Security clearance .
