Senior Project Manager (NPD)

As a Sr. Project Manager, you will lead and take ownership of the development of new products from planning through to a successful on time launch and first deliveries, ensuring a ‘joined-up’ cross-functional process – sometimes doing this remotely and outside of current business unit.
Being a role model, promoting and improving project management and product development processes within the business – and developing others.

Generic Responsibilities:Abilities:
Drive to deliver whilst bringing others with them and maintinaing positive relaotionships.
Manages own work effectively, proactively removes roadblocks for self and others, ensuring the team delivers to agreed deadlines
Leads project meetings, effectively manages tasking and clearly understands status across the project – highlighting any risks and issues, and steps to communicate them
Ensures the project maintains good task estimation and effective schedule tracking, looks for opportunities to improve schedule
Manages the risk profile of their project with active mitigation plans and active management of the schedule contingency
Ensures that the project team clearly understands the requirements for the project and actively manages to those requirements
Builds strong relationships and is able to maintain them even through challenging times and when the client base is remote.
Can work in a matrixed and sometimes ambiguous environment
Effectively manages all stakeholders and is comfortable working at a senior level – and will push back when required and also be reliasitc in terms of issues and delivery dates
Proactively manages both project and product costs
Flexible approach – can deploy skills in a different business unit and in some instances remotely .
Specific Responsibilities To lead and manage the project deliverables as required by the stage-gate development process To work with the engineering teams to track and report progress, costs, risks and issues at a business level. To work with key stakeholders to ensure the overall project schedule, quality, feature set and costs meet the business requirements. To work with Marketing, Sales, Service and Operations to ensure a seamless release and successful transition to routine shipping. To advise on, and where appropriate lead, process continuous improvement opportunities and the development and introduction of new processes and tools.

Education/Qualifications:
Physics or Science Degree (desirable)
Formal training in Project Management.

Professional Skills/Abilities:
A proven track record in delivering product development projects in a high tech environment.
Is able to work flexibly – across product line, business units and locations – sometimes having to deliver projects remotely
Experience with project management tools, issue tracking systems, and status reporting
Broad business knowledge including an understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, quality and service and how these should be considered as part of the planning and delivery phases of a project.
Sound understanding of a stage-gate project oversight process
Experience leading ‘agile’ projects using Scrum, KanBan, or similar approaches
Demonstrable experience of managing complex projects with multi-function teams
Works remoltely effectively – can deliver a project when not at the same location.
