As part of our growth plans, we are recruiting for Physicists who will work in an agile engineering team extending and enhancing Andor’s innovative light measurement solutions product portfolio. The role extends to instrument optimisation, product development, quality testing strategy and development and support for customer queries and production support. This is a great opportunity to secure training and development across our NPI, Product Engineering and Technology departments. We are open to candidates at postgraduate, postdoctoral and principal levels.

You must have:
2.1 (or higher) BSc or MSc qualification in a physical science, engineering discipline or equivalent qualification
At least 2 years’ experience in an R&D / product development environment (Practical based Ph.D acceptable)
Preference will be given to candidates with experience gained within a development environment for design, test & production of instrumentation, optics or optical systems. Examples could be Automated test, Laser technology or Optical systems design although these are not essential.
It is more important that you are able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems and think creatively, plan and deliver results, communicate effectively, and build strong networks throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities for the Physicist Understand, optimise and push image sensor / instrument performance to deliver best in world optical measuring products. Participate in product definition, system architecture, development and verification / validation. Provide innovative, robust and scalable solutions to complex technical problems. Deliver continuous improvement in new product developments. Gather requirements based on system specifications for new products. Drive task breakdown, estimation and creation of product test plans. Play a key role in further development of camera or instrument performance test suites and efficient transfer to manufacturing. Mentor, train and support other members of the operations and engineering teams. Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
