Sales Specialist – Nanotechnology – Cryo-EM

The Sales Specialist for Nanotechnology products is responsible for growth and expansion of direct sales and profit margins within assigned accounts and/or territory/region on products or services. Establishes professional relationships with key personnel in customer accounts. Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars.

I.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly and annual orders and sales goals for the territory
Control discounting to preserve profit margins
Achieve strategic product mix sales goals for the territory
Consistently grow opportunity pipeline through sales prospecting
Identify and develop key accounts in the territory
Follow-up on marketing leads from potential customers within 1 business day of receipt
Each sales rep needs to be able to comprehend and communicate to customers the technical applications aspects of our equipment
All sales activities are entered and tracked through Salesforce.com on a daily basis
Perform product demonstrations
Gains customer commitment and manages each opportunity through the purchasing process
Each sales rep completes some instrument installations in their assigned territory
Each sales rep completes some customer instrument training in their assigned territory
Standard administrative duties: monthly reports, manage operating expenses, all information in SalesForce.com must be kept current on a daily basis
Participate in sales meetings and national and local trade shows as authorized by manager
Conduct workshops, seminars or focus groups at local technical society meetings, as authorized by manager
Each sales rep is occasionally responsible for demonstration inventory, including requesting equipment via a Central Demo Management System (DMS), set-up, conduct demonstration, tear-down/packing and arranging shipping
II.REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION
Professional Experience
Experience in working with Electron Microscopy, Sample Preparation equipment
Experience selling capital equipment and products of a technical nature is desirable
In-depth knowledge of the electron microscopy market is also highly desirable

b) Education
BA, BS or MS degree, preferably in a science or engineering program
Desired qualifications express expectations for ideal/fully proficient candidates; equivalent experience will also be considered.

English

d) Travel (overnight, estimated % of time)
Must be based in the Boston, MA region
50%+ time spent in front of customers in the Boston area
~10% occasional overnight travel

Reports directly to Nanotechnology Sales Manager

No direct Reports, but partners with:
Account Managers
Advanced Workflow Specialists
Product Managers Life Sciences Division - for agreement approvals.
Service - for demo installations and customer support.
Customer service – for customer support.
Key Leica departments concerning specific issues under incumbent’s responsibility.
