Postdoctoral position is available in a cancer research lab located within the University of North Carolina Lineberger Cancer Center. The Pecot lab integrates use of bioinformatics, novel metastasis models and therapeutics to target metastatic biology. The project of interest will focus on how the tumor microenvironment regulates cancer metastasis. The laboratory is funded by the American Cancer Society, University Cancer Research Fund Innovator Award, Jimmy V Scholar Foundation, Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina, NCI Cancer Center of Nanotechnology Excellence, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, the Free to Breathe Metastasis Award and Susan G Komen. The Lineberger Cancer Center is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center with an excellent reputation of academic excellence among the scientific community, thus providing a strong post-doctoral training opportunity in cancer biology and drug-development.
Minimum Qualifications:
The Pecot lab is looking for eager, self-motivated scientists with excellent writing skills. Candidates with a strong background in tumor microenvironment modeling with cellular assays, experience in FACS-based cell sorting, tissue culture, advanced cloning skills, RNA and protein techniques, and metastatic modeling are highly desired. The applicant must be comfortable working with laboratory mice, with a few years of experience of handling mice preferred.PhD in biomedical sciences, bioinformatics or related.
