Position Overview


INFICON's Research Group in Syracuse NY is seeking an individual to support research activities exploring spectral based and new sensing technologies to support emerging requirements from life sciences, medical, space, atmospheric, earth science and new sustainable energy applications. We are looking for researchers with both theoretical knowledge and hands on experience to be part of collaborative project teams supporting the INFICON innovation strategy


Responsibilities:


Conduct, develop, and execute tests and experiments with established methods and newly developed/novel techniques. Collaborate on projects in a fast-paced, Agile environment. Develop experiments to collect, process, and analyze datasets Qualify and quantify performance of prototypes, both in the lab and in the field Contribute novel sensor ideas and methods, aiding in the intellectual property strategy of INFICON Take an active role in team work to overcome technical challenges troubleshoot systems and test on a component level using complex tools

Preferred Experience


PhD or equivalent with a background in one of the following areas: Physics, Chemistry Pharma/BioPharma, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, 3 years’ work experience at lab or industry designing, implementing and testing sensors and instruments from the area analytical techniques and instrumentation in one of the following areas: Pharma, BioPharma, BioTechnology, Life Sciences, Industrial Chemistry , Physical-chemistry. Mass Spectrometry, Optical Spectrometry, Analytical Chemistry and Separation/Ionization Techniques (IMS, GC, LC, API, CI, ESI) Applied Physics, Nano-Electro-Mechanical systems, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, NanoTechnology, Sensor Design, Chemical Sensing

The ideal candidate will also have experience in at least one of the following:


Hands-on experience operating and maintaining pumping stations and test stands, residual gas analyzers and vacuum pressure gauges for testing Ability to work on medium, high and ultra-high vacuum systems Software programming experience for running experiments and tests (e.g. Python, LabVIEW, C++, etc) Have same Electronics background and be mechanically inclined (capable to open, manipulate and modify CAD drawings) Published papers for testing and analyzing sensor data Experience with multivariate time series analysis and modeling techniques Good delivery skills for oral presentations to colleagues and customers. Experience documenting experiments Working in cross-functional agile environments
