The Senior Electrician (Nano) will provide electrical construction and maintenance services for the Birck Nanotechnology Center. A combination of highly complex systems distribute ultra-clean air and utilities through the building. Sophisticated control and alarm systems ensure cleanliness and safety. Due to the complexity of the building, specialized training is required to perform all maintenance duties on these building systems. Adherence to strict guidelines/protocols is required to ensure the safety of the employees working in the facility and to support the research that is being performed in the facility. Employees will be required to work around hazardous production material (HPM) on a daily basis. Must be able to instruct and coordinate tasks performed by other craftspeople of the same trade when assistance is needed within the Nano-Technology building. Refer to blueprints and make calculations for construction and connections of electrical systems in compliance with clean room standards. Perform electrical work as required in other buildings within the assigned zone as necessary.
Required:
High school diploma/GED Five years of experience in electrical construction, electrical maintenance, electrical repair, electrical trouble shooting, or electrical service repair Continue education in the electrical field as directed Must have the necessary skills and experience working with secondary electrical systems, lighting systems, and conduit Skills and experience working with transformers Ability to read and develop both blue prints and schematics Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to do complex mathematical calculations Possess good oral and written communication Must be able to work in adverse conditions such as electrical hazards, extreme cold and heat, confined spaces and working from heights Ability to lift and carry 50 to 80 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. or more occasionally
Preferred:
General knowledge of one or more skilled crafts Experience with control circuits, generators and PLC's Clean room experience Knowledge of the practices and procedures necessary to perform work in the Nano-Technology building and clean rooms Working knowledge of campus primary distribution system and extensive knowledge of secondary distribution system Computer skills including familiarity with word processors, spreadsheets, and SAP
