Senior Research Engineer - Electrical and Computer Engineering

Job Summary

The microelectronics and nanotechnology area in the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering has leading research in novel materials synthesis, device, and circuit design and integration. To integrate various new materials and technologies into the back-end-of-line of the IC chip, new tools and processes need to be developed to enable functional material stack assembly and in-situ characterizations for quality control. This position will work with tool vendors and researchers at the Birck Nanotechnology Center to design and construct tools for materials deposition, processing, and integration. The candidate will also develop synthesis recipes and generate integration process flows, as well as perform post-synthesis characterizations for quality control
Required:


Ph.D. in materials science, electrical engineering, or other relevant areas One (1) year in vacuum system designs and materials synthesis High vacuum systems (PVD) and integration to low vacuum systems (CVD, ALD) designs, thin film deposition, and characterization Familiarity with quality control techniques such as statistical process control and structured problem solving Excellent communication skills Meticulous attention to detail Able to work independently and in a team Excellent time management, well-organized Strong problem-solving skills Ability to accommodate the communication needs of individuals across different ages, individuals from a variety of backgrounds, and individuals with varying communication skills
