Process Development Engineer

The Role & The Team


Reporting to the Associate Director of Process Development within the Product Development group, we are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team based in our Redwood City office. As a process development engineer, you will support scale up and process development activities for the synthesis and purification of new and existing nanoparticle materials.


Seer's new Engineer will be empowered to support the scale-up and manufacture of these critical components of our platform. The ideal candidate will have a track record of accomplishments in academia or in industry. The most successful candidate is likely to have a background in chemical or materials science engineering or chemistry, with 1-3 years of experience in industry commercializing new materials in the biotechnology or life science arena. This role will be based on-site in Redwood City.


Responsibilities & Goals


Areas of specific responsibility and attention will include:


Execute process experiments and analytical protocols to robustly scale new nanoparticle synthesis and purification processes Independently perform routine process operations and equipment maintenance activities Support the design, construction and operation of new process equipment Support drafting and maintain detailed process documentation such as P&IDs, SOPs, batch records and certificates of analysis Monitor process operations; respond to and troubleshoot equipment upsets Support lab operations by re-stocking and organizing routine inventory Work cross functionally and interface closely with the materials discovery (Formulations and Nanotechnology) and quality development groups

Background & Qualifications


Candidates must bring a strong entrepreneurial orientation along with teamwork skills and an absolute commitment to competing with the highest level of integrity.


Key requirements include:


BS, MS, or PhD in chemical, biochemical, or process engineering, chemistry, materials sciences or other relevant field, with 1-5 years industry experience depending on degree Experience safely working with and around chemical and process hazards Demonstrable understanding of chemistry and engineering principals with an acute attention to detail Strong statistics and data analysis skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong and collaborative work ethic; must be a self-starter and persistent in achieving objectives to support Seer's scientific and business goals Must work well in a small team setting, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, while meeting scheduled deadlines in a fast-paced environment
