Job Description Summary
The Information Technology (IT) Student Worker is responsible for providing Helpdesk and Desktop Support services at Florida Polytechnic University. The position will assist with setting up new users (desktop and laptops), installing and troubleshooting Windows operating systems, working with Active Directory, adding accounts for users, assisting in system backups and maintaining network diagrams. The position will also provide assistance with technical analysis and feasibility studies of hardware and off the shelf applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides first-level support to staff on all computer related software and hardware issues
Assists in the maintenance, backup of network systems and related diagrams and systems information Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and supports the operation of personal computers, software and peripheral equipment for all University staff and faculty
Under IT staff guidance, perform computer imaging, staging and installation
Assist in the maintenance of IT standards and documentation
Under the guidance of IT staff, inventory technology equipment and software
Set up video conferencing sessions and other items as needed to assist IT staff.
Upgrades existing hardware and software
Tracks and completes preventative maintenance and tests
Assists with the development and maintenance of databases
Assists with the maintenance of historical records by consistent documentation of processes
Generates needed reports as requested
Contributes to team effort by completing other assignments and serving on project teams, as assigned; and accomplishing related results as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with desktop support
Experience with networking, security, and implementation industry standards
Knowledge and experience in Microsoft operating systems
Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office
Knowledge and experience in Adobe Suite of products
Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory architecture

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be currently enrolled, or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have declared a degree program and majoring in either Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related major at a college or university
Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.
EXPECTED STARTING SALARY: $10/hour (10 hours per week maximum paid), time above 10 hours per week is at the discretion of your supervisor.
