Program Coordinator

Job Summary The Program Coordinator will assist with the planning and coordinating of the daily administrative and operational activities in the Materials Science and Engineering Department. Provide administrative support for academic initiatives and recruitment efforts. Serve as principal liaison between students, faculty, staff, other departments and external constituents for graduate admissions and orientation. Manage social media marketing to increase brand awareness. Coordinate activities of support staff engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives. Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, with 3-5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Education and Experience Prefer 3-5 years of experience working with students in higher education, planning recruitment events and marketing through social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Works closely with the GRAD Committee Chair and Graduate Director to develop and plan new program initiatives.Processes and organizes applications for graduate admissions.Prepares all funding offers, including RA/TA, and internal scholarship offers.Manages applications for the Certificate in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.Coordinates the mandatory orientation/training session at the beginning of each semester.Maintains social media sites and program announcements.Explores opportunities to attract top students.Assists in planning, coordination and execution of events and activities, including Weeks of Welcome, Alumni Events, Spring Social, etc.Supervises student worker for communications.Assists in the creation of electronic and print newsletters and departmental brochures.Serves as alumni relations coordinator.Willingness to travel for outreach events.Other job-related duties as assigned including backup support for Academic Support Coordinator.

After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
