Faculty Position in Tissue Engineering

The Departments of Transplant and Physiology and Biomedical Engineering emphasize a culture of trans-disciplinary collaborations between scientists, engineers and physicians to drive ideas from basic concepts to clinical practice. Current major areas of emphasis include: Physiology, Tissue Engineering and Regeneration, Biosensing and Instrumentation, Biomedical Imaging, Biomechanics, and Modeling and Data Analytics. The successful candidate will have a primary staff appointment in the Department of Transplant with joint appointment in Physiology and Biomedical Engineering and will be located on the Mayo Clinic Florida campus. The candidate will also be expected to actively build collaborations with researchers, physician scientists and clinical investigators in other departments and research areas across the Mayo Clinic campuses in Florida, Minnesota and Arizona.

Position description
The Department of Transplant together with Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering is seeking an energetic and innovative investigator in the area of Tissue Engineering. The successful candidate will introduce, advance, and implement novel tissue engineering approaches to organ replacement, organ modulation and organ resuscitation. The candidate will be expected to establish an internationally-recognized research program that emphasizes trans-disciplinary collaboration between scientists, clinician investigators and clinicians in the department as well as in relevant clinical and basic science departments and centers from across the institution. Alignment with existing strengths in regenerative medicine is preferred, but all relevant areas of basic and translational research in tissue engineering will be considered. Applicants developing and employing novel approaches toward 3-dimensional tissue and organ printing, organ scaffolding, organ preservation and resuscitation, stem cell engineering will be prioritized.

Credentials of a successful candidate will include a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., Sc.D., or equivalent) with background in a relevant science and/or engineering field (e.g. biomedical engineering, cell biology, immunology, physiology, nanotechnology). Applications from emerging investigators are welcome, as are applications from more established investigators for whom a record of extramural funding consistent with or preferably exceeding the candidate’s career stage is expected. Candidates should exhibit evidence of leadership skills and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations. Consideration will be given to candidates at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level.
