Research Eng/Scientist Assoc I

Job Summary The Research Engineer position is in the Biomedical Microdevices and Nanotechnology Lab under the supervision of Dr. Shalini Prasad. This position must have strong communication and people skills and must be able to work with cross functional teams on a regular basis. This position must also have strong EE/CS fundamentals with basic understanding of electronic components, functionality, and integration. Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in the field of assignment.


Preferred Education and Experience M.S. in Electrical Engineering. Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, C/C++). Prior object-oriented programming experience is preferred. Preferred experience with analyzing, processing, and visualizing large data sets using BI tools (anyone from Tableau, Spotfire, etc.). Experience with lab equipment test set-up and instrument automation (e.g., digital oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power supply, DMM, etc.). Familiarity with low-speed interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI) is preferred. Development of boot loader software for ARM devices. Familiarity with SPI/UART hardware and software. Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) experience.
Familiarity with BLE hardware and software (specifically, Nordic chipsets) strongly desired.

Experience with IAR Embedded Workbench or similar. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design and implement prototype design revisions with BOM in PCB design software Oversee and communicate manufacturing of prototypes with vendors Design and implement firmware revisions for manufactured prototypes Create test plans and test cases for prototype use cases Author reports and communications pertaining to key system results and checkpoints with a multidisciplinary team Maintain version control and user documentation for all works using GitHub Physical Activities Working Conditions Additional Information This is a grant-funded position, renewable pending funding availability and satisfactory performance.

After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
