Job Description Summary
The S.I.M. (Simulation Instruction Multimedia) Lab at Florida Polytechnic University is a diverse and active innovation lab that serves student, academic affairs, and the University-community. The lab collaborates with various departments around the campus, supports student organizations, academic student projects, and more. This support role will facilitate the needs of the S.I.M. Lab Specialist and the lab as a whole in the development of projects and materials that fit the needs of faculty, staff, and students in the interests of the university.
The SIM Lab is one of the busiest labs on the campus, and the volume of work that is done by its employees must be monitored and delivery expedited in many cases. The lab is a vibrant, exciting and engaging learning environment, and the Assistant SIM Lab Specialist is expected to maintain that atmosphere with the clients of the lab at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The SIM Lab Technician position will have many different responsibilities that can include:
Video editing
Audio production
Equipment maintenance, management, and inventory

Ticket creation within Jira Service Desk

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES -
The SIM Lab Technician must be the eyes and the ears of the SIM Lab and needs to be a dynamic person dedicated to maintaining first and foremost safety within the lab. Being able to learn a variety of content creation softwares is equally important. They must understand:
OSHA compliance within the lab and operate the lab in a fashion that is secure and safe
Assembling a safe shooting environment in the SIM Lab Studio
Positive interactivity with clients entering the lab and be able to provide support to those individuals in an organized and timely fashion.
Project and ticket tracking within Jira and Confluence
Microsoft Office Suite

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS –
The candidates for the SIM Lab Technician must be fluent in Adobe products, especially Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Audition and After Effects. The candidate should have a knowledge or at least an interest in 3D modelling and the Unity Game Engine. The ability to light a set is important, including green screen sets and otherwise. They must be able to do location video shoots, observing proper video production standards. They should understand concepts and applications relating to audio production, media delivery and storage. They must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills. They should use Microsoft products regularly and understand how to use Atlassian products like Jira. They must be able to work well with people and have effective communication skills. They must have strong grammatical skills and be able to produce professional emails for facilitating interaction with faculty, staff and students. And they must be able to get along with a variety of personalities, as the SIM Lab is a very active space with a diverse and creative clientele.
