Latin American Regional Manager, Center for Chemical Process Safety

Through its varied programs, AIChE continues to be a focal point for information exchange on the frontiers of chemical engineering research in such areas as advanced manufacturing, energy, sustainability, biological and environmental engineering, nanotechnology, and chemical plant safety and security.


Position Summary



The Latin American Regional Manager will lead key programs supporting the mission of AIChE’s Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) in the Latin American Region, including acquisition of new corporate members, implementation of member support and retention activities, and promotion of CCPS products and services. Oversee regional conferences, meetings and workshops of the regional membership, establish and maintain relationships with key associations, societies, and government entities. Coordinate with other AIChE departments to identify and implement opportunities for AIChE as a whole. Travel is expected to require up to 25%, including international destinations. This role reports into the Executive Director & CEO of CCPS.


Responsibilities


Oversee an aggressive campaign to attract new CCPS member companies; identify candidates; call, visit and follow-up over time Understand the needs of existing members and assure that their needs are met within the scope of the CCPS bylaws, working with global and other regional staff and the CCPS Executive Director & CEO Along with CCPS Executive Director & CEO and CCPS Global Technical Director, represent CCPS and AIChE with government and other associations In conjunction with the CCPS Global Technical Director, organize technical content of CCPS regional meetings, conferences, and joint meetings and symposia with other societies A resource to support key technical initiatives/programs Execute special technical projects, as assigned Manage other projects, as assigned by the Executive Director & CEO

Skills


Capacity to manage multi-pronged projects/activities; prioritize deliverables through good communication and use of processes Dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers by providing timely updates and being proactive; good customer service Excellent communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese Build and sustain relationships with all levels of employees, customers and partners; relationship management Proficient in negotiations (business arrangements; memoranda of understanding, contracts; licensing, etc.) Create good customer experiences and use data as the basis for achieving desired outcomes Track record for delivering results

MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams Project Management Tools Smartsheet a plus Web conferencing (e.g., WebEx, Zoom) software

Education & Experience


BS in chemical [or mechanical] engineering required; MS preferred Relevant industrial or consulting experience of 15-20 years, including at least 10 years in roles with significant operational, technical, or managerial responsibility for process safety Certification in CCPS Process Safety Credentialing or equivalent a plus

Location


This position is currently remote, but will be located at our Houston office when COVID in person restrictions are lifted.
