Job Summary
The Ma lab for Immune Engineering is a highly interdisciplinary lab employing a combination of genetic, chemistry, engineering and computational tools to decode the molecular and cellular crosstalk between immune cells and their microenvironment, and leverage these crosstalk mechanisms to engineer novel biomaterials, protein, and cell-based precision immunotherapies. We are looking for a full-time research technician II to work alongside scientists performing cutting-edge immune engineering and vaccinology research. The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience and knowledge of molecular biology and animal handling. Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and cell culture is desired. The technician will be trained in tissue culture work, molecular cloning and animal work such as vaccination and necropsy. Prior experience in any of these specialties is a plus.

Job Responsibilities
Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor
Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed
Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy
Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment
Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures
Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment
Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment
Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures
Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques
Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner
Conducts literary searches as directed

Required Education and Experience
Required Education: Associates Degree
Required Experience: Nine (9) months of laboratory experience
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Experience:
Eighteen (18) months of laboratory experience
Related internship experience.

To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community. In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
