Job Summary The Ma lab for Immune Engineering is a highly interdisciplinary lab employing a combination of genetic, chemistry, engineering and computational tools to decode the molecular and cellular crosstalk between immune cells and their microenvironment, and leverage these crosstalk mechanisms to engineer novel biomaterials, protein, and cell-based precision immunotherapies. Visit our lab site: https://www.malabimmuneng.com/ We are looking for a full-time research technician II to work alongside scientists performing cutting-edge immune engineering and vaccinology research. The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience and knowledge of molecular biology and animal handling. Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and cell culture is desired. The technician will be trained in tissue culture work, molecular cloning and animal work such as vaccination and necropsy. Prior experience in any of these specialties is a plus. For junior technicians who are planning for graduate or medical school application, we able offer school application advice and networking opportunities. Candidates with the following backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply: Immunology, Cancer Immunology/Immunotherapy, Adoptive Cell Therapy, Vaccines Biomaterials, Nanotechnology, Microfluidics, Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Molecular, Cell and Cancer Biology, Genetic Engineering, High-throughput Screening Synthetic Biology, Protein Design, Directed Evolution, Viral Engineering Multiple positions are available. Candidates should contact Dr. Ma with a CV, a statement of research experiences and interests, and contact information for three references [email protected] Job Responsibilities Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner Conducts literary searches as directed Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations None Required Education and Experience Required Education: Associates Degree
Required Experience: Nine (9) months of laboratory experience Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Experience: Eighteen (18) months of laboratory experience Related internship experience.
Additional Technical Requirements To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community. In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment. This mandate also applies to workforce members performing work for CHOP at non-CHOP locations. Additionally, all workforce members based in or regularly scheduled to work at any New Jersey location are mandated to be both vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19, with booster timing consistent with applicable guidelines.
