GENERAL SUMMARY
:



Working under the general supervision of a Senior Technical Research Assistant, Manager or Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, conducts a variety of routine experiments where methodologies are clearly established. Calculates, transcribes and analyzes data using basic statistics. May perform literature searches under direction of supervisor.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine tests following established methodologies. Experiments may include specific assays, protein expression, isolation and characterization, and analyses of DNA/RNA/proteins, RT-PCR, qPCR, Western Blotting, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Agarose gel electrophoresis, FPLC, IMAC, dynamic light scattering (DLS), immunohistochemistry, radioligand binding, autoradiography, in situ hybridization, and preparing special materials for preclinical animal studies.



Executes protocols to amplify and purify expression vectors and applies methodologies for recombinant protein expression systems.


Assists in the purification and analysis of DNA, RNA and recombinant proteins.


Record data, summarizes, and analyzes results using basic statistics.


Prepares laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments, and equipment.


Maintains supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures.


Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.


Performs all other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:



BS or BA in a biological/physical science required.



SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



Good neuroscience skills Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good organizational skills, detail oriented. Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data using basic statistics. Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work. Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc. Ability to demonstrate professionalism.


Technical Research Assistant wanted for cutting edge bio-nanotechnology project involving in vitro and in vivo bio-nanoparticles studies. This project is a great opportunity to gain experience in medical nanotech. Must be experienced in working with recombinant protein expression systems and applying DNA/RNA/protein methodologies. Expertise required in recombinant protein expression, isolation, purification, characterization and quantification using different protein assays, SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, FPLC, IMAC, DLS and ELISA. Neuroscience experience desired, especially with brain immunohistochemistry, fluorescent imaging, radioligand binding, qPCR, in situ hybridization, and autoradiography. Knowledge of computer programs and ability to methodically organize, record and analyze data using statistics are desirable.
