Daniel D. Reneau Eminent Scholar Chair in Biomedical Engineering
Louisiana Tech University invites applications or nominations for the Daniel D. Reneau Eminent Scholar Chair in Biomedical Engineering (BME). The Chair will have the opportunity to direct the further development of the research and education mission of CBERS, the College of Engineering & Science, and the institution itself.
The successful Chair candidate will be an internationally recognized scholar and researcher in BME or a closely related field, currently at the associate or full professor rank, and will be appointed as a tenured professor in Biomedical Engineering. The Chair will initiate and sustain a vibrant externally funded research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students. As a collaborative leader, the Chair will mentor students and junior faculty to help them achieve their full professional potential.
The Chair is supported by a $2M endowment affiliated with Louisiana Tech’s Center for Biomedical Engineering and Rehabilitation Science (CBERS), and the BME program which offers one of the earliest ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering in the country, a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, and the PhD component of an MD/PhD program in collaboration with the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. CBERS, through its multidisciplinary membership, also supports the PhD in Computational Analysis and Modeling, Ph.D. in Engineering, and the MS and Ph.D. in Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology.

CBERS is an interdisciplinary research center with the mission of developing and promoting basic and translational biomedical research, intellectual property, strong ties with biotechnology and medical industry. CBERS and the BME program are housed in a 50,000 sq. ft. building which includes core and individual faculty research laboratories, 5,500 sq. ft. of small animal research facilities with surgical suites, as well as tissue and cell culture laboratories.
