The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School’s graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France and Georgia Tech-Shenzhen in China. Graduate students who spend at least one semester each at three Georgia Tech locations (Atlanta, Lorraine, and Shenzhen on three continents—North America, Europe, and Asia) can earn the Georgia Tech Global Engineering Immersion Program (GEIP) Certificate when they receive the Georgia Tech M.S. degree.
Over 110 ECE faculty members are involved in 11 areas of research and education – bioengineering, computer systems and software, digital signal processing, electrical energy, electromagnetics, electronic design and applications, nanotechnology, optics and photonics, systems and controls, telecommunications, and VLSI systems and digital design – and the School is either home to or a key player in almost 20 research centers and consortia.

Job Summary
Serve as subject matter expert and primary advisor within a college or an academic related or business unit on matters related to sponsored research program administration in accordance with Institute financial policies. Plan, manage, and perform associated financial support in the areas of budgets, accounting, reporting and grant and contract administration. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with: faculty and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: faculty and staff. This position will supervise: assigned staff.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Manage, coordinate, and perform sponsored research pre-award activities to include proposal development, formatting, review and submitting; budget, and fringe and overhead rates application; and database entry.
Job Duty 2 -
Manage, coordinate, and perform post-award activity to include faculty liaison, monitoring expenditures and compliance and report generation.
Job Duty 3 -
Manage sponsored research related accounting operations including budget updates, financial reporting, Salary Planning and Distribution (SPD), sub agreements and financial forecasting.
Job Duty 4 -
Provide advice to the school's business operations management regarding issues related to sponsored research plans, proposals and projects.
Job Duty 5 -
Plan, direct and monitor activities of grants administration and/or grants accounting staff responsible for sponsored research support.
Job Duty 6 -
Liaise with management and staff within Office of Sponsored Programs and Grants & Contracts Accounting regarding sponsored research grants and contracts issues.
Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three to five years job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Research Administrator, Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator, or Certified Financial Research Administrator Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
This job requires professional knowledge of financial/accounting principles and practices as applied in sponsored research environment. Working knowledge of proposal development and related regulatory requirements is required as is use of office and spreadsheet related computer applications and specialized applications and databases related to grants and contract administration. Also required are skills in planning, attention to detail, problem solving, and communications.
