Senior Industry Collaborations Manager

The Department of Radiology is committed to excellence in patient care and inventing the future of Medical Diagnostics, Biomedical Imaging, and minimally invasive therapies. The people and programs comprising Stanford Radiology are world renowned. Stanford Radiology continues to push the boundaries of innovation in physics and engineering to develop cutting edge methods for enhanced anatomic and functional imaging. Our diverse multidisciplinary teams of scientists, together with industry collaborators, are creating new methods for the early detection of cancer using molecular imaging, nanotechnology, and systems biology. They also continue to develop improved and more targeted methods for least invasive, and compassionate cancer patient care. Ultimately, Stanford Radiology plans to play a very important role in the development of personalized medicine by moving advances from the laboratories to the clinic for improved patient centric care.



Stanford University is seeking a Sr. Industry Collaborations Manager to lead the development and implementation of industry partnerships and sponsored research aimed at maximizing the impact of the Department of Radiology research initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and the Vice Chair for Research and Organization they will provide strategic direction and oversight for the Department’s diverse portfolio of industry sponsored research agreements ranging from small, short-term projects to complex multiyear programs.



Duties include:


The Sr. ICM will be the lead administrator for all Radiology industry collaborations (excluding clinical trials). Serve as the go to resource for all faculty and staff when envisioning/initiating new partnerships and developing sponsored research and collaboration agreements. Drive negotiations between sponsor, Stanford’s Industrial Contracts Office and faculty. Independently evaluate requirements for all levels of contracts from small single projects to high profile multi-year activities. Identify opportunities for improvement in the coordination of the entire process of identifying new partnership ideas through finalization of a signed agreements and tracking of these agreements. Counsel and guide faculty how to manage discussions with industry to ensure collaborations can be viable within university guidelines. Troubleshoot problems and provide assistance to Radiology PI’s with interpreting and explaining contract terms and conditions. Evaluate proposed relationships and identify go/no go criteria. Expert in the complexities around scoping and deliverables of projects, IP, data usage guidelines, budgeting, hospital based clinical and legal requirements, IRB, privacy and security, and conflicts of interest required to allow for successful relationship with industry. Develop budgets for research contracts and negotiate with industry to finalize awards. Monitor agreements to ensure timely payments, deliverables and renewals. Forecast and report on funding levels, new/renewing agreements, new industry partners. Oversee and drive development of Research Summits with industry partners to identify areas of collaboration. Ensure that all inquiries and needs from industry are met and answered. Develop and maintain an online database of all contracts and maintain documentation and spreadsheets on sponsors' annual financial commitments (e.g., overall funding envelopes) to ensure commitments can be reviewed and tracked. Initiate standing meetings with PI's and industry partners to discuss status of agreements to keep negotiations moving and offer creative solutions as needed. Develop presentations for industry, coordinate quarterly meetings, and track deliverables/reports and payments as specified in the contracts. - Other duties may also be assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):




Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):


Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines. Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness. Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and, decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals. Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Strong relevant subject matter knowledge. Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:


Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation. Occasionally use a telephone. Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
