In this key, customer-facing position, the Field Service Technician is responsible for installing new equipment, executing product upgrades, and responding to service calls in-house and on-site installation, training, routine and preventive maintenance, repair, and technical support at client locations.
Responsibilities include:
Performing highly complex service and testing on miniature components, precision equipment, and complex instrumentation. Documenting service work, recording and analyzing test data, and preparing service reports. Providing information and feedback to Engineering and Production teams for problem identification & resolution. Analyze complex problems, utilize excellent troubleshooting skills, and exercise sound judgment based on competing priorities to resolve support issues both promptly and efficiently. Providing comprehensive technical support by phone and email, and promoting customer satisfaction through exemplary customer service. Skills and Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline; or an Associate's Degree in electronics, electro-mechanics, or a related discipline along with significant prior technical service experience. Superior customer service interaction and communication skills. Possess a valid driver's license and passport; be willing to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice. Successfully pass a federal background check in order to be admitted to customer facilities. Good working knowledge of standard vacuum systems and high voltage technology. The ability to read and interpret industry-related documents such as safety rules, schematics, blueprints, operating, maintenance and repair instructions, and procedure manuals. Excellent mechanical abilities to analyze complex and intricate mechanical components and work to extreme tolerances.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Field Service Technician must be able to lift, transport, and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Position self to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch/squat, and/or remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. Candidate must be able to reach at and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck and have good hand and finger dexterity to place small parts. Specific vision abilities required include color, close, distant, and peripheral vision and depth perception. Candidate may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
