Department Summary The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at UNTHSC has three multidisciplinary departments that include Physiology & Anatomy, Pharmacology & Neuroscience and Microbiology, Immunology & Genetics. Graduates of the GSBS are leaders in biomedical sciences within academics and industry across the nation; serving as deans, department chairs and leaders in many professional organizations. The research areas are diverse and include cardiovascular, neuroscience, health disparities, vision science, genetics, immunology, molecular biology, nanotechnology, pharmacology, and numerous other areas.
Position Summary The Department of Physiology & Anatomy and the Center for Anatomical Sciences (CAS) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX invite applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor level that focuses on teaching human gross anatomy. The hire will be primarily responsible for developing and teaching an online upper-level undergraduate course in human anatomy. The new hire will also contribute to lecture and laboratory instruction of cadaver-based human gross anatomy courses for medical, physical therapy, physician assistant, and graduate students. Other duties may include mentoring MS/PhD students in the Structural Anatomy and Rehabilitation Sciences graduate discipline and/or involvement in the Center’s numerous K-12 science outreach programs. This is primarily a teaching faculty position with appropriate effort allocation available to permit the pursuit of scholarly and research activities. Current CAS faculty have teaching and research backgrounds in anatomy, histology, embryology, biological anthropology, evolutionary biology, education science, and K-12 science outreach. Additional information about the Center for Anatomical Sciences is available at: https://www.unthsc.edu/anatomicalsciences The successful applicant must have a PhD or equivalent degree in hand by July 1, 2022 and possess two or more years of teaching experience in higher education (either face-to-face or online) with demonstrated experience in curriculum/course development and assessment. Applicants with at least 1 year of teaching experience in dissection-based human gross anatomy will be preferentially considered. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Anatomy, Anthropology, Biomedical Science, etc.). Applicants with at least 1 year of teaching experience in dissection-based human gross anatomy will be preferentially considered. Two years or more teaching experience in Higher Education, in a face-to-face or online setting. Demonstrated experience in curriculum and course development and assessment.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in undergraduate education. Experience in online course development and teaching. Experience in course content delivery through the Canvas platform. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse. Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume. Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
