We are seeking a mid level Optical Engineer who will help design and optimize Leia Inc's display products.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Optical modeling of display system through non-sequential ray-tracing Optimize optical performance of Leia displays (efficiency, uniformity, etc.) Collaborate with fabrication team / external vendors to set up experiments for design verification Obtain insights from simulation and measurement results to guide next-generation design Invent and implement novel backlighting concepts
This is a position based in Menlo Park, CA
What You'll Have Master's degree in Optics, Physics or related field 2+ years experience with ray-tracing simulation software (LightTools, FRED, etc) Proficiency with scripting in Matlab and/or Python Hands-on experience with optical testing and characterization Strong analytical design skills Self-starter with energy and drive to work in a startup environment Team player with strong communication skills Nice to Haves Familiarity with display optics, with knowledge of 3D / lightfield displays a plus Simulations and modeling software development in C/C++, Fortran, Python, Matlab, etc Track record of creative and innovative problem solving Machine learning experience Knowledge of human visual perception (color and vision science) Knowledge of diffractive optics Light up Life
