Position Summary The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth is seeking applications for an Assistant Dean of a new undergraduate degree completion program in Biomedical Sciences. The BS in Biomedical Sciences degree program aims to deliver a flexible, affordable undergraduate degree completion program. It is designed for traditional undergraduate students and non-traditional adult learners who have completed more than 70 credits of college courses but have not previously completed a baccalaureate degree. The Assistant Dean will be expected to manage the academic activities of the program, as well as the faculty involved in collaboration with the Dean and Department Chairs. The selected individual will provide leadership in the areas of curriculum development and delivery, student retention, and curriculum assessment and quality improvement to support program growth. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Dean on strategic planning and the Office of Admissions and Recruitment on student recruitment. The selected individual will also be required to teach courses required for the degree program in their area(s) of expertise. This position includes a 12-month faculty appointment as a Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Associate or Full Professor, dependent on qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications Earned academic doctoral degree in a relevant biomedical sciences discipline (e.g., Anatomy, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Epidemiology, Experimental Psychology, Genetics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, etc.).
Five or more years of teaching experience in Higher Education, in an in-person or online setting.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum and course development and assessment.
Demonstrated administrative and leadership experience and the ability to manage a diverse portfolio of faculty talent.
Preferred Qualifications
A vision for building an academic educational program bridging multiple disciplines and groups.
Experience in undergraduate education.
Experience with best practices of online course development and teaching.
Experience in course content delivery through the Canvas platform.
Experience in assessment and quality improvement of academic programs.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse.
Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume.
