Posting Text South Dakota Mine’s Department of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering is offering an exciting career opportunity for a people-centric, innovative, and highly motivated individual with a desire to grow and actively contribute to our team as a NANO-BME Program Assistant I. The candidate will work with Nanoscience and Nanoengineering and Biomedical Engineering faculty, staff and students. The department offers a total of five academic programs across these disciplines, awarding degrees from BS to PhD. The department maintains research programs funded by NSF, DOE, DOD, and NIH, among other agencies and industrial partners, focusing on electronic and photonic nanomaterials, nanocomposites, nano-biotechnology and biomedical engineering topics including bioimaging and biomaterials. Job Responsibilities: The individual in this position will assist the Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (NANO) and Biomedical Engineering (BME) programs with administrative duties and tasks related to delivery of undergraduate and graduate programs in a research-intensive setting. A key aspect of this position is offering support and assistance to faculty researchers within NANO and BME and working with other research support staff on meeting their respective project’s administrative needs. Additional responsibilities include, assisting with purchases and acquisitions, assisting with hiring, writing and monitoring assistantships, monitoring of department budgets, grants management, student service functions for the undergraduate and graduate programs, assisting in compiling materials, organizing documents, proof reading and editing grant proposals and reports, and other department management and operation functions. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities related to: Accounting and grant fund management, institutional and/or agency sponsored research policies and procedures, proof-reading and editing of scientific documents, including grant proposals; event planning and management; accounting processes, budget forecasting and finance; purchasing practices; data analytics; database management. Skills & Ability to: Multi-task independently and make sound decisions, resolve problems or conflicts; prioritize work to meet competing deadlines; interpret, explain and apply rules, regulations, policies and practices; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; coordinate and work with people inside and outside of the department; must have excellent interpersonal skills, establish effective relationships with staff and faculty; provide a high level of customer service when assisting graduate students and faculty; coordinate with graduate school, human resources, grants and contracts, and any other relevant departments to ensure and monitor compliance with institutional policies; collect and compile materials and metrics from department faculty, fellows, research associates and students. Salary: The pay range for this classification is pay grade GG under the state general pay structure. This pay range has a minimum rate of $18.36 per hour. The pay will be dependent upon education and experience.
