Global Sustainability Director

Global Sustainability Director

From forensics to nanotechnology, our analytical systems and solutions help the world’s top researchers do ground-breaking work on the small things that make big things possible. We’re after enquiring minds, imaginative thinkers, and proud geeks. Those who are irresistibly drawn to hard problems others can’t crack. Those who are always thinking ‘what if…’. Do you like to be part of this team? Then read on….

We know a thing or two about scientific measurement, so we’re fully aware of the scale of the Net Zero challenge. Our interim targets are based on the best possible science and aligned to a 1.5 degree warming scenario. We will be net zero in our own operations by 2030 – and across our entire value chain of suppliers and stakeholders by 2040. We need you to help us on that journey.

What’s the job?

You will be the sustainability leader in Malvern Panalytical, driving traction and engagement across the organization to make sustainability thinking part of our company DNA. You will develop our strategy and sustainability roadmap to deliver against our emissions reduction commitments: defining intermediate targets, setting priorities, and delivering against them. You will own the environmental management systems, greenhouse gas inventories, energy management, water management, life cycle assessment, corporate sustainability reporting, and more.

We are looking for a passionate sustainability advocate and a detail-oriented, pragmatic leader who is used to running complex programs, across functions and with multiple stakeholders. You should be comfortable working with large quantities of data and be able to synthesize and interpret data into meaningful material and conclusions. You are at ease in navigating uncertainty, good at influencing up and across the organization and excited to work with a high degree of autonomy.

You will define intermediate targets, set priorities, and design the cadence of deliverables. You will oversee the execution of the sustainability roadmap and all related sustainability initiatives and you will be held accountable for the delivery of our science-based emission reduction targets. You will lead the cross-functional Sustainability Steering Group and support the workstream leaders in planning and execution of their programs. You will coordinate activities of the local Green Teams, providing them guidance with their local initiatives. You will manage and expand our environmental management systems, including Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions levels and other sustainable indicators (SI) across the full business scope and support environmental audits across the world.
