Company

FabricNano (fabricnano.com) is a venture-backed startup. We aim to revolutionise the synthesis of biomolecules – plastics, fuels, fragrances, flavours, medicines, and more. We use nanotechnology to construct multi-enzyme cascades with increased yield, higher purity, and lower synthesis costs. You would join a passionate team at an exciting early stage to help build our culture and initial products.

Role.

You will be part of a collaborative team immobilising enzymes for cell-free biocatalysis. A unique feature of our product is the capacity to co-immobilise cofactors with enzymes. At FabricNano, you would aim to expand the set of cofactors we can immobilise with enzymes. This may involve DNA design, cloning, protein expression, enzymatic assays and general biochemical methods. Success in this role will be enabled by collaboration with our team and measured by increasing the number of cofactors we can immobilise. This role reports to one of our Biochemists.

Responsibilities

Perform experiments, troubleshoot methods, and report outcomes to the team and in peer-reviewed publications and patents. Collaborate with biophysicists, chemists, enzymologists, chemical engineers and computational scientists in our team and partner organisations. Take advantage of opportunities to develop new processes and techniques to streamline cofactor production. Contribute to a passionate, creative and open-minded work environment.

Requirements

Motivated, flexible and organised team player with a growth mindset. It is necessary to have hands-on experience in biochemistry and molecular biology, acquired in an undergraduate or Master's, or equivalent level in industry. It is ideal to have some experience producing, purifying and analysing nucleic acids.

Our company values

Always choose candor. Be curious about each other's work. Busy doesn't count; results do. If you aren't thriving, your work isn't thriving. This is your business.

Equal Opportunity Employer. We are proud of our commitment to diversity & inclusion.

How to apply. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. We plan to start interviewing at the end of October.
