What’s the job?
As the pricing officer you will be the key player in the pricing process where you will optimize the pricing strategies and pricing methodologies to achieve a higher overall profitability. You will support the major stakeholders in this process (Product Management, Customer Support, and Sales etc.) with data analysis on pricing and identify opportunities for optimizing margins. A key part of the role is to maintain and improve the pricing structure including the dedicated pricing tool.
What will you be doing?
Playing the leading role for pricing within Malvern Panalytical in a range of ways:
Supporting Product Management, Sector organization, to determine the right pricing strategies that support the product positioning as a whole, as well meet the profitability targets set. Seeking out approaches and methods to assess optimal pricing strategies, based on market data of pricing, either being customer data and/or competitor data. Optimizing the data and IT infrastructure that supports the activities and processes on pricing as performed by the different stakeholders. Orchestrate the yearly pricing review.
What are your responsibilities?
Every day will be different, but these areas are where you’ll spend most of your time:
You will be the matter expert on pricing, pricing strategies and tactics, to help realize MP’s business objectives Effectively communicate, challenge and advice Executive Management Team on the possibilities to drive growth thru pricing strategies Drive and partner with the sector sales, product management and customer service leadership to define the pricing strategies and execute the price improvement initiatives and projects. Review product price positioning (with a.o. Product Management) and profitability (with Finance) to identify opportunities for margin improvements. Coordinate the pricing review process by supporting all stakeholders concerned Participate in business case development during NVI in collaboration with Product management You’ll gather and curate market, customer and competitor insight w.r.t. pricing: Working closely with Sector Sales, Customer Support and Product Management to conduct exploration and evaluation of pricing in identified markets. Assess pricing metrics and price-related data from a variety of sources and use it to derive insights into pricing strategies, policies and performance. Define and test pricing propositions (and support integration into the business cases) Evaluate competitive landscape to inform our commercial approaches Develops KPIs for monitoring the pricing performance. You will take a leading role in developing the Global Pricing System, comprising its processes, methods and tools Share, communicate, train and inspire around the area of pricing internally through communities, deep dives and webinars. Conceptualize and implement methods and tools to continuously improve and professionalize our pricing activities and performance management. Keeping up with trends and best-practice around pricing and identify possibilities for MP. You will be the (product) owner for the Global Pricing System Tool (Zilliant Price Manager): maintain, develop, operate in close cooperation with finance, IT and supplier. Maintaining the pricing tool configuration and identify improvement opportunities and roll-out of pricing tool updates. Be the primary contact to the tool supplier. Provide pricing tool application support (reports, dashboards, etc.) for all stakeholders Refine the pricing tool system settings and boundary conditions definition Optimize pricing structures and calculation rules Coordinate with Finance and Data Management in deploying the Price Manager tool Upload of current pricing data (Global base price, pricing factors, etc.). You’ll partner with colleagues in other functions Counterpart in Finance / Data Management on pricing topics Product management: (Group) Product Managers Sector – Sales: Sector Sales Managers, Channel Partner Managers CPQ Application Manager
What do you need to be successful in this role?

At least 5 years’ experience working in finance, pricing, revenue management, product marketing or similar function, preferably in a B2B environment. Entry Qualifications: HBO-level or Bachelor in the area of business administration or similar field. Having knowledge on pricing methodological, e.g. value drivers, customer value, price elasticity. You are a great communicator, effectively reaching a diverse, cross-functional audience at all levels of the organisation with vision and clarity. Able to work on both operational and strategic levels, understanding business dynamics and financial impacts. Strong analytical and quantitative skills including the ability to effectively utilize data from multiple sources to drive decisions in the complex area of pricing. You bring together and motivate the stakeholder, often without direct management authority, using your persuasive influencing skills. Interact with multiple different stakeholders You deliver on your commitments, every time with the right quality Controlling the Data Quality of all pricing data elements in the pricing tool and processes. Delivering pricing data needed by the internal (Sales, Product Management, ..) as well as external (Channel Partners) business stakeholders according to agreed plan. Expert knowledge in Excel, preferable experience with SAP ERP, Salesforce, SF-CPQ, QAD tools, as well as having basic background on data models and databases You are fluent in English, both written and spoken. Another language is beneficial. You live quite close to one of our manufacturing sites, ideally Malvern, UK or Almelo, NL, as you will interact with other teams often. A hybrid remote/onsite model is desired.
