Description:
The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in Biomolecular Sciences (BMS) at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of September 1, 2022.
We seek applications from candidates whose research interests complements the research programs of the highly collaborative faculty currently in the department. We are seeking candidates with programs of research related to drug discovery or drug/diagnostics development which might include but are not limited to pharmacology, molecular toxicology and disease mechanisms, immunology, epigenetics and pharmaceutical, pharmacokinetics, physical or computational chemistry, data sciences with application or integration with pharmaceutical sciences.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a PhD in pharmaceutical or medical sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, or a related area, by the time of appointment and a minimum of 1 year of postdoctoral experience, or equivalent (e.g. related professional experience in industry, government, etc.), in an area of research related to drug discovery or drug/diagnostics development that will build on the strengths of the Faculty. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research, and a strong demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to mount an independent, innovative, active, externally funded and internationally recognized research program. This candidate will be expected to contribute to the education and training of undergraduate students in our PharmD professional programs and to graduate studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Research excellence can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
A strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels must be demonstrated through a teaching statement (3 page limit) highlighting previous experience that can include leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, delivering conference presentations or posters, or experience as a teaching assistant or course instructor. A commitment to excellence in teaching may also be demonstrated through a teaching dossier/portfolio that includes sample course syllabi (either of courses delivered by the candidate or planned for the future), course evaluations, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters. Professional or lived experiences that enhance the ability to teach a diverse student body are highly valued.

The Biomolecular Sciences (BMS) Division at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy offers a cutting-edge and transdisciplinary environment for pharmaceutical sciences research. Current research strengths in the BMS Division include the development of therapeutics and diagnostics, elucidation of molecular mechanisms of disease, pharmaceutical oncology, drug disposition and molecular toxicology, drug delivery and the use of nanotechnology for the development of therapeutics and diagnostics. Researchers in the BMS Division come from a variety of disciplines including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, and Physics.
