Position Overview:


Solid Power is seeking a Scientist to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The Scientist will be tasked with contributing to the development of high-performing next generation conversion type cathode.


Job Duties:


Contribute to the development and integration of an advanced conversion type cathode into solid state cells. Contribute to the optimization of synthesis conditions to obtain desired particle size, structure and morphology. Perform basic materials characterization as needed to understand the effect of synthesis conditions on material physical properties. Perform electrode coating, cell assembly and electrochemical testing to evaluate the conversion type cathode in solid state battery. Conduct post-mortem analysis of cell components and provide insight for further improvement. Summarize experimental data and contribute to technical reports. Work closely, collaboratively, and effectively with other departments and team members. Adhere to all safety precautions and protocols. Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation. Document and follow standard operating procedures as well as assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development.

Qualifications/Requirements:


Master's Degree and 3+ years' experience in the chemical or battery industry, or Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, material science, or a related discipline. Hands-on experience on nanomaterial synthesis and/or solid-state battery development research desirable. Structured problem-solving and analytical skills and strong technical skills in areas including electrochemistry and/or nanomaterial synthesis. Experience with analytical and characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, SEM, TGA, FTIR, EIS, etc. Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence. Hands-on experience working with materials synthesis and surface coating techniques; experience with glovebox use, air-sensitive materials desirable. Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs. Highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions. Excellent communication and organizational skills. The candidate must be responsible and self-motivated, with a history of stable employment and performance. U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000/year
