Post Doctoral Research Fellow

Description

The Department of Chemistry is seeking a 12-month, post-doctoral research fellow to conduct research on the development of nanoparticulate prodrugs for cancer therapy. The initial appointment will be for one year and is full time and benefitted, with potential for renewal for a second year, pending annual review of performance and continued availability of funding.


The Department of Chemistry in Abbott Hall is well equipped for ongoing research performed by individual faculty and is funded by external funding from the National Science Foundation, ND EPSCoR, PRF ACS and other agencies. Abbott Hall houses 29 laboratories and classrooms, over 30 faculty and student offices including space for modern teaching and research facilities in the state of North Dakota and surrounding regions.


Duties & Responsibilities Synthesize organic molecules and functional polymers Construct and characterize nanoparticle formulations of drugs Investigate the nanomaterials for in vitro cancer screening Implement the anticancer nanosystems for in vivo cancer treatment Analyze and interpret obtained data as a member of a cross-disciplinary team Draft manuscripts for publication and proposals for external grants Present research data at academic seminars and conferences Maintain instruments and lab environment Required Competencies Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic in research Capable of working independently Good oral and written communication skills Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students Ability to mentor junior team members Minimum Requirements Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, pharmaceuticals, biomedical science, or a related field Successful completion of criminal history records check.

$45,000 a year, full-time, benefitted
