Disruptive Technologies and Materials Design (DTMD) Division (Disruptive Technology & Materials Design - Triton Systems) is seeking an electrochemist with experience in chemical modification of surfaces, nanomaterials with small molecules, DNA, and biomolecules.


The potential candidate can thrive in DTMD division formed by the multidisciplinary team with skills of microfluidics, microfabrication, instrumentation, material science, biology, genetics, tissue engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, data science including AI/ML techniques, and many more.

Responsibilities:


Designing and execution of new surface chemistries to functionalize surfaces and microfluidic devices. Synthesis of nanoparticles and functional hybrid materials-organic and inorganic, and their physical and chemical characterization. Materials fabrication using methods such as electrochemical techniques, self-assembly, layer-by-layer deposition, thin film growth/deposition, and chemical synthesis. Investigate and validate new characterization techniques through the use of sensors, hardware, and test methodologies. Maintain materials report database and document lab results into reports. Read the relevant publications/literature to stay updated in the field. Assist in writing competitive proposals and research articles. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Communicate, brainstorm and collaborate with a diverse, close-knit team.

Qualifications:


Ph.D. in engineering, chemistry, or related field. Several years of postdoctoral training is a plus. Good understanding of surface chemistry. A strong experimental background in fundamental and applied electrochemistry. Experience exploring, in depth, fundamental electrochemical reactions. Demonstrated knowledge or expertise in electroanalytical and electrochemical cell characterization Experience with electrochemical characterizations such as voltammetry, rotating disk electrode, impedance, membrane electrode assembly. Extensive experience in materials chemistry Experience with energy storage, fluidic batteries, and/or solid-state batteries Experience with standard electroanalytical techniques and a range of characterization instruments including XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, DSC, visible-UV, FTIR, Raman. Ability and enthusiasm for learning new skills and developing new techniques. Highly motivated, hardworking and curious individual with the ability to think innovatively about difficult research problems. Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills. Must have strong attention to details.

** The hired person will directly report the Director of Disruptive Technologies and Materials Design. He/she will work with the existing team to support and build on current efforts, and have the opportunity to participate in the creation of new initiatives in strategically targeted areas.
