About the role:



The Material Handler/Shipping & Receiving Associate will be responsible for the organization of materials within a chemical manufacturing and R&D facility. This position will be responsible not only for shipping and receiving, but also recording inventory statuses, making ERP/MRP transactions, and making sure deliveries properly match purchase orders.



The Material Handler/Shipping & Receiving Associate will be handling multiple tasks simultaneously such as, reprioritizing workloads and various other duties as needs arise therefore he or she must be able to take direction well and have excellent communication skills. This role may evolve to owning the scheduling of shipping arrangements, coordinating with logistics & freight companies for quotes, as well as creating packing slips and performing shipping transactions in the ERP/MRP system.



What you’ll be doing:


Package products securely for shipping (ex., boxing, bagging, loading drums, bulk packing, palletizing, wrapping, strapping, etc.) Receive and review incoming packages against packing slips and purchase orders. Check shipments; record shortages and reject damaged items. Alert purchasing to any discrepancies. Count, weigh, measure and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy. Match shipments against POs. Maintain stock of shipping supplies and re-order as needed. Work with the Logistics Coordinator on freight quotes, conduct “load building” exercises to approximate ultimate packaging. Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments, which may include hazardous materials. Perform and report cycle counts. Operate various types of propane or electric powered forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, hand trucks, hoists, and other material handling equipment. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of all material handling equipment. Support duties within the Hazardous Management Inventory System (HMIS), process expired material, and disposal of hazardous waste. Assists in inventory management of chemicals, hazardous materials, and finished goods. Consistently follows safety protocols and promotes safety practices in others.

What we’re looking for:


At least 3-5 years’ experience working in a warehouse setting in a shipping & receiving role. Experience in operating material handling equipment; forklift certification preferred. At least 1 year experience in inventory management with ERP/MRP experience. Proficient with shipping manifests and related documents. Technically savvy especially with relevant warehouse management systems. Ability to perform calculations pertaining to volume, distance, weight, and units of quantity. Experience operating trailer restraints, overhead doors, dock plates, pallet and box scale, and label printers. Experience in using portable power saws, drills, common carpenter hand tools, strapping and banding equipment, counting and weighing scales, and other tools and equipment used in packaging, crating, etc. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions detailing the handling, measuring, of various chemicals and products. Able and willing to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend and to lift heavy materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
