About the role:


The Data Engineer will design, build, deploy and support a lab information management system (LIMS) for Group14’s new R&D facility. The Data Engineer has a strong programming background with an emphasis in scripting, automation and relational databases. The person in this position should also have strong networking and server experience and be able to deploy all solutions to the cloud (preferably AWS). The Data Engineer will modify, expand and maintain each system once it has been deployed utilizing appropriate unit testing techniques and generating appropriate documentation.



What you’ll be doing:


Building a Lab Information Management System (LIMS) Working with IT to build the architecture for a network between several computers running battery testing equipment and create a data pipeline to a centralized server Automating the extraction of data from each computer running the battery testing equipment Designing, developing, building and administering a database that collects the data via the data pipeline Normalizing data in the database to provide convenient access for R&D personnel Helping support expansion of data systems within both R&D and Manufacturing

What we’re looking for:


Bachelor's degree - preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems 5+ years working with LIMS (design, development, deployment and maintenance) Familiar with manufacturing data structures and systems Knows software life cycles Fluent in scripting languages (e.g. Python, Java), writing and deploying automation code Strong knowledge of relational databases and database server solutions

Experienced in:


SQL and SQL server software deploying solutions to the cloud software documentation and development (version control, debugging, unit testing) web UIs, APIs and other application integrations programming and scripting

Nice to haves:


Standing up servers and knowledge of server software Lithium battery industry experience Familiar with networking computers Start-up experience, comfortable in a constantly changing environment Knowledge of SCADA systems such as, Ignition SCADA by Inductive Automation Cross functional work experience (interfacing beyond R&D, to Manufacturing, and to Quality) Familiar with both Mac and Windows OS
