Postdoc Appointee - Quantum Emitter Electron Nanomaterial Microscope (QuEEN-M) JG

The Nanoscience and Technology division at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking three Postdoctoral Appointees to develop and conduct independent research related to quantum information science utilizing the new Quantum Emitter Electron Nanomaterial Microscope (QuEEN-M). This microscope is part of a DOE NSRC grant to study quantum defects and emitters using state-of-the-art probe corrected STEM, cathodoluminesence, and ultrafast techniques. Postdocs will be responsible for performing collaborative research with internal and external scientists, including planning, designing and executing experiments. Appointees will develop novel experimental techniques along with staff, utilizing the QuEEN-M. Other duties will include data analysis and management, sample preparation, other metrologies and reporting results in appropriate form with an emphasis on high impact scientific journals.


Position Requirements


Required:


A Ph.D. in Materials Science/Physics/Chemistry or related field within the last 3 years

Preferred:


Knowledge of quantum emitters and various QIS systems Software skills for high level programming (Matlab, Python, etc) and data visualization are desirable. Experience with advanced characterizations, including STEM, TEM, EDS, EELS, cathodoluminescence, photoluminescence, ultrafast spectroscopy Skills and organization in data processing, evaluation, and interpretation. Ability to present reports at meetings or conferences and prepare manuscripts for publication. Strong oral and written communication skills at all levels of the organization. Ability to work in a team environment. A successful candidate must have the ability to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.
