Associate Scientist / Scientist - Nanomedicine

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland
Employment Type: Full-time


Otomagnetics is seeking a motivated postdoctoral/recent grad fellow with experience in formulation chemistry to lead drug formulation. The candidate will serve as a technical expert and conduct laboratory research related to formulation development. We prefer candidates with previous animal or cell culture exposure. The incumbent should have strong technical knowledge in various aspects of drug delivery, formulation, and process with a drive to learn new techniques while working at the laboratory bench. Incumbent must have the scientific commitment and strong desire to make impactful scientific and technical contributions within the nanomedicine research field.


Responsibilities:


Synthesize novel magnetic nanoparticles and perform the loading and release study Designs and performs in vitro and animal experiments, analyzes and presents the outcome Proposes and undertakes a mentored, innovative project or challenge Conduct experiments to identify and validate drug targets Support assay design, optimization, validation, and data analyses Design and execute molecular and cell biology experiments Troubleshoot and analyze complex data in support of drug discovery projects

Qualifications:


Experience with formulation development for various routes of drug delivery systems Experience with tissue culture Hands on experience with animal study Demonstrated hands-on experience in developing various functional cell-based signaling assays (eg. Western blotting, Luminex, ELISA, MSD etc.) in recombinant and primary cells Expertise in databases, data analysis & analytics and specialized analysis tools is required Self-motivated and a proven ability to work in a multifunctional team setting Detail-oriented, highly organized with the ability to run multiple interleafed projects Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability and desire to master new skills, methods and technologies that enhance departmental capabilities The candidate must have in vivo experience working with mice (handling, dosing, tissue harvesting)

Education/Training:


BS with 4-6; MS 2-4, PhD 0-2 years Experience in following route of administrations: IV or topical Recent graduates with above qualifications are welcome to apply Education background in chemistry, biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, pharmaceutics, or related field
