Requirements: Applicants must have a D.V.M. or equivalent degree. Individuals who are board certified in the specialty of veterinary cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM), as well as board-eligible candidates with accepted ACVIM credentials, will be strongly considered. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, competency in medical and interventional cardiology, as well as a demonstrated aptitude for teaching and scholarly activity.
Duties: The Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine is seeking a third full-time cardiologist to join our robust cardiology service for both companion and large animals through the provision of clinical service and clinical and didactic teaching of professional students, interns, and residents. It is an expectation that the successful applicant will also contribute to the scholarly mission of the College, through independent and collaborative research efforts. The University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital possesses a comprehensive array of state-of-the-art resources for cardiology, including 4 dedicated ultrasound units (2 - GE Vivid E95, 1 - GE Vivid I, and 1 – Siemens Acuson S2000), 3D transthoracic and transesophageal capabilities, digital ECG, digital telemetry, and digital Holter units. There is a dedicated IR-suite for minimally invasive procedures equipped with a Siemens Artis fluoroscopy C-arm, 3D integration, transesophageal fusion imaging, and Siemens Sensis hemodynamic monitoring and procedure workflow station. The cardiology service has an ACVIM-approved residency program, with 3 current residents and 1 full-time research intern, and is supported by 2 full-time cardiology dedicated technicians. Opportunities to collaborate in the areas of biomarker discovery, advanced cardiac imaging (CT, MRI), nanomedicine, 3-D printing, and interventional research within the college and university are available.

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine features modern research and animal care facilities and has recently completed an exciting, large-scale expansion of our surgical corridor, anesthesia suite, emergency services, intensive care unit, and internal medicine areas. Our faculty conduct discovery and provide instruction and service relevant to companion animals, equines, food and fiber animals, exotic animals, wildlife, and zoological species.
